Tips for Traveling With Children

by Admin 15. August 2012 03:58

When you hit the road with your trusted long distance moving company, you may realize that extra care and attention is required if you have children. In order to make your venture hassle-free and keep the little ones satisfied, you may want to follow these tips.

Be Wary of Car Sickness

As a seasoned traveler, you may be aware of what makes you car sick and what to do when you feel queasy. If your children aren't veterans of the road, they may feel car sickness coming on and not say something until it's too late. It's a good idea to frequently check in with your children and ask them how their stomachs' feel and if they need to take a break. You may also want to keep some gingersnaps or ginger ale on hand to quell any sickness.

Play a Verbal Car Game

Your children may get bored along the way, so to keep them (and you) occupied, you can play some verbal car games. Mothering.com suggests playing road sign alphabet, in which you take turns finding letters on road signs you see that go in alphabetical order. You also can play I-spy, in which you look at something on the road or in the car and say what color it is, and everyone else has to guess what you're looking at.

Sing Alongs

Load your iPod up with great sing-along songs. They can be catchy oldies or perhaps fun songs geared toward children. You can purchase CDs or mp3s off of Amazon.com and iTunes that are full of fun and educational tunes that you and your children will enjoy.
