How to Save Money on Flights

by Admin 3. September 2012 08:38

One of the most expensive parts about international moving is paying for the flight. Fortunately, there are a few methods you can utilize to save money on tickets - here are some helpful hints.

Look Early

If you already know the date you'll be moving, book your flight as early as you can. Buying tickets in advance not only leaves you more options, but tickets get more expensive as their departure date nears, so you'll save.

Shop Around

The best way to know if you're getting the best deal is to survey all the available options. Suite101.com recommends looking at websites such as Travelocity.com, Expedia.com and Orbitz.com to get competitive pricing. These sites charge a booking fee, so once you find the tickets you want, buy them directly from the airline.

Aim for the Middle of the Week

The price of plane tickets is often relative to what day you travel. The weekends are popular days, so they'll be a little pricier. If you can, try to fly out to your new home on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bring Food

An additional cost that comes with traveling is eating the exorbitantly priced food at the airport. Bring some crackers, fruit or veggies so you have something to snack on in case there's a delay or you get there early.
