How to Save Money When Driving Part II

by Admin 4. September 2012 08:40

Cross country moving can be a pricey venture due to the high price of petrol. Here are a few tips for being easy on your gas tank and light on your wallet as you make your way to your new home.

Travel Light

The more weight you put on your car, the harder your engine has to work, resulting in more gas being used. Let your movers bear the burden and just pack the bare essentials - like your family and food.

Gas Matters

As you fill up at a gas station, TreeHugger.com reports that you should use the lowest octane blend available. The word "premium" won't give you better gas mileage, and you'll be paying exponentially more. Some gas stations have clubs you can join to get discounts - try to find an international club that'll help you save at the pump.

Quality Control

The better shape your car is in, the more gas-effective it will be. Get a tune-up before you begin your venture and make sure your tires are in good shape. The more inflated they are and the better their grip, the greater gas mileage you'll get.
